Chiltern Debt Management has launched a free ‘financial health check’ on its website so visitors can quickly see whether they are overindebted.
The financial check-up, which is based on the Office of Fair Trading guidelines on overindebtedness, asks visitors three simple questions to determine if they need help with their finances, and provides access to specialist help if they do.
Chiltern head of marketing Joanne Gill says: “We’ve introduced the free financial health check so visitors can easily check if they need help to manage their money.
“Most people don’t realise that if they spend more than a quarter of their income servicing unsecured debts then the government considers them to be overindebted.
“When people are overindebted it means they don’t have enough money to pay for the necessities in life and they end up in a situation where they are using credit to live on a month to month basis. This leads to a spiralling debt problem which grows out of control if people don’t seek help.”
Chiltern Debt Management has been helping people in debt for more than ten years.
It works with clients to produce an income and expenditure form which is then shared with creditors to agree an affordable repayment while making sure the debtor has enough money to pay for essentials.
In addition to the free financial health check visitors to www.chiltern.uk.com can compare and switch utility providers and gain free access to their credit report.
