A Load of Bull and Hot Air?

Isn’t the European Union a fascinating place? Just when you think you’ve heard it all they surprise you yet again. The latest weird and wonderful measure they have come up with is a tax on cow flatulence!

No, it’s not April the 1st, it is completely true! According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation 18% of the gases believed to contribute to global warming come from livestock and, according to the Danish Tax Commission a cow emits 4 metric tonnes of methane in a year whereas the average car will only emit 2.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide!

It goes without saying that the farmers are not exactly happy with the idea with the proposed tax being €13 per animal in Southern Ireland and as much as €80 per animal in Denmark!

When it comes to using their imagination to come up with the most bizarre proposals you have to admit that the Eurocrats certainly don’t fart around!
