The share prices of two large banks fell after it emerged that regulators had informed them that they may have to raise more capital. The banks affected are Bank of America and Citigroup. Official figures have revealed that the US economy has continued to shrink during the first three months of this year. Gross Domestic Product contracted by 6.1% from January to March, which was not much better than the previous quarter, where the contraction was 6.3% for the period October to December of 2008.

Credit card companies are out of touch with their customers, and could be fuelling debt problems, according to consumer watchdog Which?’s report.
